The Concrete Safaris Community - participants, families, and neighbors - benefit from the service of over 1,200 volunteers each year. Here is a collection of opportunities where your talents and time will be most useful here. Thank you in advance for your support.

After School

Assist children with homework, cycling, gardening, architecture and design, or field trips

Weekly school-year commitment

Prior experience volunteering or working with children required

Background check required

Saturday Garden Sessions

Help maintain our educational gardens. Individuals may volunteer once or regularly. All adults must register separately. When young people (ages 0 - 17) attend, a parent or guardian must register the child and a designated adult must be present for the entire event. To obtain our signature for community service, be present from start to end of the event and let our staff know before the event starts on that day.

Activities may include:

Seasonal garden maintenance

Raking leaves

Creating paths

Planting trees, shrubs, seeds, and vegetable, herb, and fruit transplants

Wheelbarrowing and shoveling topsoil, wood chips, and compost

Picking up trash

Building garden beds

Adopt A Garden Bed

Must be a resident of Jefferson or Washington Houses

Must commit to a minimum of weekly maintenance of your garden bed for the season

Must follow CS' Code of Conduct

For families, at least one adult must be present when children are gardening

Join Concrete Safaris' Leadership Team

Board of Directors

Seeking seasoned professionals passionate about CS' mission. Track record of leadership in business, government, philanthropy, or non-profit sector and board experience.

Junior Board

In its first full year, young professionals will make new connections in the local community and lead fundraising and community service events.

Provide your expertise to a Task Force or Committee. No fundraising commitment.
