Commitment<\/strong><\/p>\n Did you know that 3 elementary schools within 6-blocks of Concrete Safaris\u2019 gardens have no science teachers for over 1,200 students? Join Concrete Safaris for an outdoor educational experience serving 2nd-5th graders in East Harlem. Partner with children or youth via group mentoring, completing team building games and 25-minute modules of gardening, urbanism, environmental health science, and fitness. You will plant, learn about the neighborhood, study the health impacts of our environment in East Harlem, and complete a fitness circuit together. For those organizations that prefer to work independently, a day of garden maintenance activities only can be arranged. Work with our team to develop a custom event so that East Harlem children can use CS’ gardens as their science labs.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tABOUT GEDs\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/a>\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tSponsorship Inquiry\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/a>\n At Concrete Safaris\u2019 JungleGym 2020, East Harlem children and their families will race through a 20-Obstacle Challenge and enjoy an Active Living Fair spanning commercial corridors, residential blocks, and school yards in East Harlem in partnership with the NYC Department of Transportation\u2019s Weekend Walks program. East Harlem youth will help build the obstacles. Elementary school children will meet with Community Board 11 to secure permits and street closures. Concrete Safaris\u2019 Outdoor Leadership Academy Interns and volunteers will facilitate these family events, celebrating our 8th annual event series and 12th year. Your group can opt for a half- or full-day session.<\/p>\n JungleGym events are held on Fridays or Saturdays during the summer and on a variety of days (weekdays and Saturdays) in the fall and spring. Summer events require volunteers to participate from 8am-4:30pm. Depending on the size of your group, we can host one or two events at once.<\/p>\n JungleGym takes place on two blocks per event in East Harlem’s commercial corridors, on single blocks adjacent to public housing developments, and in schoolyards or streets adjacent to schools.<\/p>\n\t\t\tHow much does sponsorship cost?<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tExpand<\/i><\/a>\n\t\t Event sponsorships range from $3,500 – 50,000, depending on the number of volunteers, and scale and scope of the activity.<\/p>\n\t\t\tWhat do you provide?<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tExpand<\/i><\/a>\n\t\t All sponsorships include full event planning services, an online registration tool, supplies for the event (tools, gloves, materials), and water. At every event, there are roles for volunteers just like this.<\/p>\n Green Exercise Days are opportunities for volunteers to complete garden maintenance projects and still feel a part of the team as their colleagues mentor children or distribute food to the community.<\/p>\n JungleGym volunteers can set up and break down obstacles, make sure there are adequate supplies, and other tasks that are necessary for the event to flow well.<\/p>\n\t\t\tWhat media coverage do you offer?<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tExpand<\/i><\/a>\n\t\t There are different levels of media coverage based on the package that you choose. We do not have in-house public relations, and are happy to work with your team to develop and distribute materials.<\/p>\n\t\t\tCan my child attend?<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tExpand<\/i><\/a>\n\t\t Your child may not attend a Green Exercise Day as the focus is on the children from East Harlem who are expecting your mentorship.<\/p>\n Your child may attend JungleGym so long as there is an adult present with him or her throughout the event and you can also safely volunteer at your station.<\/p>\n Get outdoors and active while helping to maintain CS’ educational gardens. What do I need to do to get your signature as proof that I was present?<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tExpand<\/i><\/a>\n\t\t Yes, you may do your community service hours for school, juvenile justice, civic or other purposes so long as our site has been approved by your organization. Ask your teacher, court officer, or primary contact whether this activity will count towards your hours. Bring a form from your agency for our staff to sign. Let the lead staff member know that you are seeking a signature for proof of hours before the event starts on the day of the event, so that staff member knows you were present.
