The Constantinian Order &
The Royal Order of Francis I

The Sacred Military Constantinian Order of Saint George, and the Royal Order of Francis I comprise the Chivalric Orders of the Royal House of Bourbon -Two Sicilies, which is the Royal Family that ruled Southern Italy and Sicily until 1861.

The Constantinian Order, founded in the year 1190, is an ancient and internationally-recognized dynastic Order of Knighthood actively involved in the defense and promotion of the Roman Catholic religion, and undertaking spiritual, humanitarian, and charitable projects and initiatives in Italy around the world, including the works of our Delegation here in the United States.

The Order’s present Grand Master is

Prince Carlo of Bourbon – Two Sicilies, Duke of Castro, Head of the Royal House.

Today the Royal Family bestows the Knighthood on Roman Catholic men and women who render significant services to charity, philanthropy, and inter-religious understanding. Our Order is recognized by the United Nations, the Holy See, the Italian Republic, and the US Government, among others. In fact, Knights and Dames of the Order in the US armed forces are permitted to wear our decorations on their dress uniforms.

The Royal Order of Francis I was founded by King Francis I of the Two Sicilies, in 1829 as the first Royal Knighthood to recognize merit and accomplishment in the areas of science, art, industry, agriculture and commerce. Today, this Order is awarded for services to charity and includes many Catholic and non-Catholic men and women among its membership. Its members are encouraged through their talents to support the mission of the Royal Orders in their social good works.

Since it was established in 1990, the US Delegation has been active in support of charitable works both in the United States and Italy, and in recent years has been to 3 major charitable works; supporting Catholic parishes in the US that need extra funding (mostly for upkeep and restorations), supporting Catholic causes in the Muslim world and sponsoring cultural programs in Southern Italy/Sicily, or Southern Italian cultural programs here in the United States.
