Support\u00a0the Whatcom Business Alliance as the advocate for business success and community prosperity through the Step Up campaign.<\/p>\n<p>The WBA Step Up campaign provides local businesses of all sizes an opportunity to\u00a0participate in the critical process of engaging in public policy issues. \u00a0Local policy issues impact the\u00a0success of local\u00a0business and shape the overall business climate in Whatcom County. The health of our business climate affects our entire community. The Step Up advocacy campaign\u00a0will provide resources for the WBA to engage\u00a0proactively in these efforts on\u00a0behalf of the entire local business community.<\/p>\n<h2>Why Advocacy Is Important<\/h2>\n<p>Business success is the largest driver of community prosperity and jobs. \u00a0Let your voice be heard as part of a vibrant business community through the WBA:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Environmental stewardship and economic prosperity are compatible, and we need to have\u00a0the conversation about this balance.<\/li>\n<li>Business leaders can offer great solutions on policy issues and the WBA has proven to be\u00a0an outstanding voice for local business.<\/li>\n<li>The Whatcom County business community gives back in great measure, but can only do so\u00a0when we are successful and vibrant.<\/li>\n<li>We need to educate the community, our policy makers and young people about the harm\u00a0that results from excessive regulatory burdens on local businesses.<\/li>\n<li>We need to educate our community about the Importance of the personal freedom to\u00a0choose, property rights and the value and benefits of entrepreneurship.<\/li>\n<li>Businesses deserve predictability, consistency and fairness so they can grow and add\u00a0family wage jobs for our community.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Step Up Objectives<\/h2>\n<p>The WBA Board of Directors developed a Strategic Plan for Advocacy that outlines the following key objectives:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Expand our economic, environmental and political research and provide factual\u00a0information and analysis to our board, WBA members, the community and media.<\/li>\n<li>Develop industry specific research that will document the economic impact to our community of business growth and success through job\u00a0creation and economic development.<\/li>\n<li>Proactively work to advance policy issues that support business success and\u00a0advocate against those harmful to local business by informing, engaging, organizing\u00a0and advocating.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>How You Can Help<\/h2>\n<p>Become a member of the Step Up campaign by contributing to the WBA business advocacy fund. Contributions are made on a recurring monthly basis via our secure sign up process.
