Artist in Residence
We were pleased to have Claudine Purdue for her 1-year residency, ending with a 2-week exhibit from September 25 – October 9, 2022. She received the C3 summer internship grant from UHART, and is currently working toward a B.F.A. in painting.
Claudine is currently seeking Veterans willing to share how their time in service has affected them. They will be painted in portraits (anonymously if they wish). Following the project, they will receive a print of the painting as a thank you!
About the Artist
Claudine Purdue, grew up in Queens, NY surrounded by a love of the arts, and theatre from a very young age. She is a graduate of The French Culinary Institute in Grande Diplome for Pastry Arts. She has won ribbons for the town of Windsor’s photography seasonal competition, and has published articles within a Beatles fandom book for her obsession with the Hofner bass.
An avid lover of history and Genealogy, she returned to visual arts to explore bringing the stories learned in those genres to life. ‘I have been enjoying use of color as a storytelling device, and also images of the subconscious mind, that can appear in a state of twilight or even daydreams. Taking the audience on a mutual adventure, through sight and thought. I hope to continue growth through palette knife and other painting mediums not yet explored. She lives with her Husband of 18 years and is a proud military wife.
Claudine has been attending Manchester Community college for Visual Arts and in 2020 was the recipient of a transfer scholarship to the University of Hartford, Hartford Art School for Painting. She also recently received the C3 summer internship grant and is proud to be working with the Windsor Art Center.
The Windsor Art Center, Windsor, Connecticut, is a nonprofit organization that promotes the visual and performing arts and presents visual art exhibits showcasing the works of a variety of artists working in diverse media and genres.
