Tooltips

Overview

Tooltips supplement content associated with a specific UI component.

We designed tooltips specifically for graphs that help our users view their data, to gain further insights into their metrics, and make decisions that are meaningful to their organization. These tooltips display monetary amounts at a given data point and provide our customers the ability to make comparisons and decisions between two time periods.

Graph Tooltips

We designed tooltips specifically for graphs that help our users view their data, to gain further insights into their metrics, and make decisions that are meaningful to their organization. These tooltips display monetary amounts at a given data point and provide our customers the ability to make comparisons and decisions between two time periods.

There are 3 tooltips for our graphs. Each tooltip displays three types of data sets that are contextual per the data that is it shows. Graph Tooltips predominantly live in our graph widgets, or a hybrid page, which combines a list type page, and a graph of a KPI metric together. Below is a list of rules and use cases that describe when it is appropriate to use each type of tooltip.

Simple:

This tooltip shows the amount of an individual metric. This tooltip is for tracking the overall growth, and decline of a single KPI metrics such as donations, memberships, and pledges.

Medium:

Use this tooltip when there is a graph that involves a comparison between a previous to the current year KPI metric. The medium tooltip helps our customers make comparisons to make more meaningful decisions about how to improve their organization velocity, such as donor retention.

Complex:

Large groups of data may intersect at various points, thus requiring a tooltip that gives our users a detail view of those data points separately. Use this tooltip when at least for types of metrics are displayed simultaneously at once.
